From its very beginnings the stud has had a complete focus on the commercial beef industry (fertility, weight for age and versatility/survivability).
Over the years, the family has owned propertied in Western Queensland, Central Highlands and the Darling Downs, where the cattle have excelled in all of these environments.
When selecting traits for Huntly Droughtmasters Stud breeding program, a balance is stuck between carcass (bone, meat and muscle, length and weight for age) and doablity (fertility and survivability) making Huntly Droughtmasters experts in Versatility. A low cost, low fuss animal to maintain a wide range of our sometimes harsh environments. With over 150 years and 6 generations of family involvement in the Australian beef industry, Huntly Droughtmasters are still looking to develop its core traits to stay relevant in todays dynamic markets and environment, but are well equipped to handle these challenges.
